From Tess

Now, how does one person sum up the 18 years of Clara Jane Dawson? I honestly don’t know, so, I am going to give it my best shot! Apologies in advance if I don’t remember everything correctly while sharing the precious mems. Teehee.

Clara is and will forever be an East Coast baby. She’s always had the spice, the sophistication and the sillies. Her Kook-pacity TM has been shining bright since day one. She had the cuddliest face and brightest eyes with the sweeeetest cheeks as baby. I remember when she grew out of her baby mullet and transitioned into a pixie and then into that classic bob that reigned supreme for years.

She has ALWAYS loved her mom, dad and most especially her big sister Amelia or as she is lovingly called Millie. Her brothers…well, I won’t speak on her behalf. As somebody who has four big sisters I can relate to wanting to emulate their every move as a little sister. Millie reciprocated this love eventually and now the two of them are thick as thieves. Sisterhood is a real gift and Clara has ALWAYS appreciated that even if at times it wasn’t replicated. As Millie once said about Clara “I love her and I don’t love her. I do both.” Now, because of their sisterhood, I get to participate in it too and share music, films, sleepovers, TRIPS all the best things that come with appreciating and loving those who love you back.

One of my favorite characteristics about Clara is that she has always wanted to join in on the fun. She was one of the older cousins for a long time leading the little ones out in games that involved tossing stuffies across the basement, dances at the Snowman Party, husking corn for the Fourth of July. Clara still carries that with her now! Watching rom coms, doing silly internet trends, singing along to pop songs and sharing clothes. She is a true example of kindness and generosity to every one around her.

Clara also…enjoys the finer things and isn’t afraid to admit it. She will work hard to get the dress or shirt or shoes or vinyl. She is also an excellent hang and appreciator of the finer things. My friends have raved about her and Millie regularly calling them “Some of the loveliest and coolest young women they’ve met.”

Happy 18th Birthday Clara I can’t wait to see you keep shining, growing and excelling at all that you do.

Thank you for loving me and making space for me. It means so much to get to watch movies like Theater Camp, watch US Open matches, and go to concerts together. I look forward to the small moments too – family dinners, playing outside, loving on my pup Newman and so much more. I am so happy that I get to share this crazy world with you.

Love,

Aunt Tess
